Corn Mythology

As part of its campaign to educate consumers and the news media, the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) has developed a one-page document responding to the top 10 myths about corn production and ethanol production.
The top ten myths about corn and ethanol are, in David Letterman style:
10. Ethanol is bad for your car’s engine.
9. Ethanol is not energy efficient.
8. Corn production and ethanol production waste water.
7. Increased corn acreage squeezes out other crops or natural open space.
6. Ethanol is bad for the environment.
5. The traditional family farm has been replaced by global corporations.
4. Corn (especially high fructose corn syrup, or HFCS) is a cause of obesity.
3. Increased corn production is bad for the environment.
2. High corn demand is to blame for high food costs.
1. There’s not enough corn to go around.
