It should be required reading to read a book on animal rights activism to see where PETA and Humane Society of the United States form their beliefs. It would make your hair curl. Basically a child and a dog are equal. In order not to show cruelty to animals the best thing you can do is become vegetarian. Has no one every noticed that they see humans as interfering with animals being free - What about humans in all this. I just read where a man in Omaha Nebraska was turned in by his vet because he refused treatment for his sick dog. The police broke down his door and entered his house and later arrested him. For what? I am quite sure for a law that HSUS worked very hard to have passed that gave the sheriff the right to do this. My thoughts are that animal rights activist have gone way too far. It is also "convenient" under the animal terriorism act that HSUS made sure that it read that people have to fear bodily harm or death.....when they come knocking at your door.....this gives them a clear entitlement to go in with, in some cases warrant less search and seizure and take your animals including farm animals and sell them to someone else. So we can ask what is abuse. A dog with a few flees and matted hair is not abuse, an elderly horse that is even "very thin" nearing the end of their life is not abuse, but HSUS and their camera crews will show this and of course it gets sympathy and lots and lots of donation using emotional pleas. The fact is people need to take back the control of their animals using well based fact animal husbandry skills and science and out of the hands of a conglomerate of animal rights activist as HSUS.using pharases like "the worse we have ever seen, forced to live a life in deplorable conditions" - and no owners are not allowed to film as they are filming...wonder why?
Please do not donate to HSUS but support your local shelters, and if not with money then dog crates, blankets, pads to lay on, food, cleaning supplies or your time to volunteer.

I am both saddened and shocked over this information. My beloved pet passed away three weeks ago, and my many friends and family sent money to HSUS on behalf of my pet. I received very nice cards expressing both sympathy and heartfelt sorrow for my loss. I know for a fact my family had no idea that this organization is also tied to PETA. Furthermore the fact that this organization is fighting the battle to end all livestock production in the US is completely shocking. I have just started doing some apparently much needed research on this subject and feel like a fool for having supported HSUS over the course of many years. You can be sure I will spread the word what is taking place under the guise of saving kittens and puppies.
