It is not God forbid that the public wants to know where their food comes from. I asked my senator if the HSUS suceeds in its goal of no meat, dairy, eggs and such produced in the US and we all are forced to go to a vegan lifestyle how they expect us to grow enough produce to feed the US? What alot of HSUS supporters do not realize is that if they get all of that taken care of they will undoubtedly go for "No Hunting." Being a country girl I know that it is impossible to grow produce as it is and not have wild game get into it. If wild game is left to grow unchecked it would be out of control. My senator politely said you are about there but not quite. The HSUS's final goal is to import all of our produce from over sea's. Politely put if certain people think American Farmers are so bad as is when we produce the safest, most abundant cost effective food source for our consumers you will be real impressed by what it brought in from other countries. Supporters of the HSUS need to read and listen to Agriculture media. The HSUS is very cocky about saying out landish things on there that they would never say in the main stream media. They are getting a big kick out of fooling animal lovers out of their money to further their agenda. When the animal lovers do not realize that they are paying to help the HSUS do away with all domesticated animals in the US. The phrase don't bite the hand that feeds you comes to mind! I would love to see alot of people supporting the HSUS do a bit of research before they help them bankrupt the whole country.

Kris,

That video sure looks different than the happy cows (he had names for each of them, and each would come when he called its name) that lived on my Grandfather's dairy farm in the 1950's. They were only in the barn twice a day when he brought them in from the pasture for milking.

Sadly, the vast majority of people in this country have no idea what it takes to successfully operate a livestock operation. They do, however, take in a lot of mass media, and so far, HSUS has had the funding to get their message out and livestock producers have not. Hundreds of millions of dollars, collected in the name of saving puppies and kitties are in fact spent otherwise (see richest and most powerful player link above).

We ask producers to give us a safe, abundant and inexpensive food supply under market, weather and regulatory conditions that are not in their control. Then we thank them by voting without ever meeting a producer or visiting a farm.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) filed a petition in Ohio to bring a ballot initiative to the voters of that state that would dictate livestock care standards...

Isn't that what democracy is about? Let the people vote and the majority decide? I would hope the people of Ohio are smart enough to vote down the HSUS initiative, but HSUS certainly has the right to ask for a vote.
